I made snow today! Since we can't seem to keep any outside due to unusual fluctuating temperatures we painted with snow today. Actually it's the second week in a row now we've had to miss out on our local Children's Museum's preschool program, due to a darn cold, again *sigh*.
So the last time we actually went they read the story, "The Snowy Day", by Ezra Jack Keats. Then the kids used this 'snow paint' to paint a picture of Peter's adventures. We actually left her painting there and despite me calling I have a feeling after 2 weeks it's probably gone. So I decided to make our own today.
I didn't measure anything, just eyeballed. It's just shaving cream and white glue. I actually had no idea if this was going to work but it does 'set' It's still soft to the touch but not wet or stick (doesn't come off on your hands when dry). Apparently it makes a good hand exfoliating mask as well.
My daughter had a lot of fun gluing lots of fiberfill 'snow' to the shaving cream snow, which kind of defeated the point of my special paint so I made one too just to see what it set like. At one point I actually thought making different colors of this stuff and adding sprinkles/glitter would be fun and cute for like cakes/cupcakes (fake one's of course). But then I thought what's the point of a fake cake, might as well make a real one...much tastier. : )
